Since my childhood, I have the desire to create something new, from a blank sheet of paper. After a very exiting motorcycle adventure driving from New York to Los Angeles, I got the idea to develop an all electric adventure motorcycle. I quit my job and started working on the adventure motorcycle, while doing freelance work to pay the bills.
I’m a freelance mechanical engineer. I support small and large teams with concept development, all the way to proof of concept and start of production.
Since I learn and adapt extremely quickly, it allows me to work in various industries and for various clients. Over the years I worked in automotive, motorsport, industrial, marine and consumer products.
Over the years I specialised myself in lightweight engineering, a passion of mine. Someone once called me the “Heavyweight Professional in Lightweight Engineering”. Competences, techniques and technologies related to lightweight are:
In the majority of cases, I work out of my own office and prototyping workshop. Next to video meetings I frequently visit the customer for face-to-face meetings. Under circumstances, working onsite is also a possibility.
I either work with my own equipment and licenses, or if needed, I use the clients software licenses and hardware.
I have extensive experience in the following engineering tools:
Concept Development | Concept development of a new pipe connector system with a focus on LCA (Life Cycle Analysis)
Senior Product Development Engineer | Technical leadership of the internal engineers + external hires. Setting-up and streamlining an internal engineering department. Strategy development and technology roadmapping.
Product development of an electric propulsion unit for marine applications. Focus on rotor development.
Topology Optimisation Consultant – Technical support for the prototype development of DSM‘s additive manufacting/3D printing platform.
Concept development of the inwheel motor of Lightyears Solar Car.
Chief Technology Officer – Developing highly optimised automotive products using Additive Manufacturing and an internally developed software platform.
Development of the E-Push system, a lightweight glass fixation system for trailers.
Development of carbon composite suspension components
Topology optimisation of a spud lifiting system.
Analysis, optimisation and redesign of a hydraulic manifold, suitable for Metal Additive Manufacturing. Result: from 13.6kg to 900g
Concept Development Engineer – Concept development of lightweight systems and components of the automotive and motorsport clients. Worked with Carbon composite projects, electric vehicles and additive manufacturing.
